Semester 2 2020 project
UQ ITEE students only 


This project is for a UQ final year or Masters student in IT, Interaction Design or Computer Science.

The successful applicant will receive a $3,000 scholarship + academic credit for enrolment/assessment (4 unit final year thesis or project / 4 unit Masters project).  You must be available to work on the project onsite for 3 days/week during Semester 2 2020 (around lecture timetable). 1-2 days/week you may work from home after settling into the project, if agreed with the company. 

APPLICANTS NOTE: upload your resume with unofficial academic transcript/s (undergrad + Masters if applicable - combined into 1 doc/pdf). Also include your student ID number. Upload resume before OR after applying for project/s.  

UQ ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT: all CEED applicants must get a written study plan approved (by a UQ academic advisor in your discipline) showing you can enrol in the relevant thesis/project unit for a CEED project (unit code varies depending on your course), in Semester 2 2020.

We cannot progress your application until you provide this info to CEED (please email to CEED before the project's application close date). Advise CEED if you need assistance or are experiencing delays in receiving an approved study plan.

We develop and market the UrbanInsight, an innovative data analytics, visualisation and storage platform for complex urban applications.  We help cities, universities and others to become more resource efficient and innovative, as well as sustainable and resilient.

What you will do

You will be part of a dynamic team contributing to development of innovative software solutions to our customers in the Australian and Asian Pacific markets.

You will be highly self-motivated with keen attention to detail and have a positive can-do attitude with a desire to learn and a propensity to innovate.

You will have the opportunity to gain experience conceptualising and implementing creative ideas into the UI end user interface, the UrbanInsight dashboard.

Objectives / Tasks / Project Outcomes

  • Contribute to the design and development of the UrbanInsight dashboard.
  • Communicating design ideas using user flows, site maps and wireframes.
  • Designing sample pages including colours and fonts.
  • Preparing design plans and presenting the dashboard structure.
  • Incorporating functionalities and features into the UrbanInsight dashboard

Skills / Experience Required

  • Hands-on experience working with UI/UX toolkits, modern programming languages or software development technologies
  • Excellent visual design skills
  • Final year or Masters level student in either UI/UX, Interaction Design, Computer Science
