Robert Beckman supervised a project to update RTCA's Whole of Life Costing Model in 2007. He is also a past CEED student (2002).

Robert recently commented that "Justin (RTCA's most recent Engineering student) made a major contribution to the project, that will result in a $60 million purchase.  His work allowed the analysis to be completed faster and more rigorously."

"I am a frustrated teacher, so I enjoyed the teaching aspect and getting Justin enthusiastic about Open Cut Mining / Asset Management".

Robert added that, “Rio Tinto Coal Australia have utilised Engineering CEED students before, and have been very happy.  A recent Marketing/Public Relations project has made us realise how valuable the program can be for non-engineering disciplines as well.  We will be utilising a wider range of students in future project selections”.

Robert is pictured on right, with CEED student Kathryn Harrigan (M.Business - Public Relations, QUT) in the middle, and Richard Hassall from RTCA on left.  Kathryn completed a project in 2007 to interview RTCA staff, collect and write stories celebrating the benefits of internal collaboration.  The finished 'product' was "Stories from the Coalface".  Kathryn was employed by RTCA at the end of her project.
